did i already blog about this? i know i instagrammed it all, but it's been long enough we can just remember the stories and re-see the pictures!
the weekend of the 4th of july is the basque festival here in elko--and brent and julie decided that was worthy of a visit! so they drove on out and spent the weekend with us seeing the sights (or sites?), attending the festival, and hanging out.
you better believe we went to ross..
then we went to friday night preview show of the festival--it was touch-and-go stormy, but awesome weather. watched the children dance
and basque men shoot wine from an arm's length drunk.
we also ate chorizo--basically a brat... pretty tasty.
and photographed peoples' license plate covers.
i made them coconut chicken curry
and look at me for a picture (ha)
then we just relaxed the rest of the night and i think we watched a show...
next day we went back to see the rest of the basque festival! turns out: if you're going to go--just go saturday. you don't need to see the friday preview, because it's all the exact same things.
and who should i see?? but my old boss from the university of utah who fired me! and against whom i totally don't still harbor ill feelings towards.
i'm an adult. it's fine.
rejection is hard, ok?
get out of my town, nancy.
we came home and crashed. it was so hot, and we were so tired.
also our apartment is not quite the most spacious. ^ see above. hahaha! they were good sports to put up with it!we made them play mille bourne with us --thanks brad and jess for the game! i made more meals, and we hung out more times...
they came to church with us and saw our ward...! and jordan and i were looking for new cars.
sunday afternoon we find a listing for a ford escape and long story short i decide to ride back to utah with brent and julie, look at the car, spend the week (the whole family was in town for the staycation!) and then jordan would come out for the weekend (end of the staycation) and take me home.
the end of that story is that we bought our car! for a great deal, and we love it.
the beginning of that story is that we hadn't even made it the whole way out of town (an hour) before we all had to pee. CLF
happy basque festival days!!! come enjoy the culture of elko this 4th of july weekend. we are more than happy to cram mattresses in our home. but you'll have to help cook.
or just come visit, and we don't have to go to the festival.

Nancy? CLF. Times five. Pretty sure you did blog about this on the other blog. But that's okay. This one's twice as nice.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Nancy got demoted and they gave Maren her job (I'm not sure at this point that she is even still working there)? So maybe she got her comeuppance for firing you...
ReplyDeletejust saying.
Also, I'm glad you've played Mille Bourne :)
Hahahaha, Nancy. What a lame-o. Let's kick her outta Salt Lake too. Love that you went to the basque fest! Sounds so fun. Besides that Nancy part.
