valentine's day

the first FHE of february we heart-attacked each other.  it's kind of hard to start traditions with just two of you...but i cut out all these hearts and i was bound and determined that we do this! jordan humored me. 

also there were lots of sweet things said. you better believe i'm saving those hearts.

i always try so hard to make holidays/birthdays special... i think i need to work on "special," though, to find more success. valentine's was a good effort, though. i think it went better than my other various and sundry attempts as of late, anyway. 

jordan got me that beautiful bouquet of roses, and i made a special dinner of coconut chicken, asparagus and cooked carrots. (ok it wasn't that special--except for the asparagus. but it was tasty)

i was pleased with my meal. and jordan loved his gift--a food chopper. that's right! that's how we do romance.

and one of his favorite desserts is strawberry shortcake. well...minus the shortcake. but i enjoyed the angel food!  he just has bowls and bowls of strawberries with cream. always.

and then he washed all the dishes and helped clean up the mess i'd made! such a sweetie.

then we went to deliver valentine's. growing up that was our v-day tradition-- to pile in the car after dinner and deliver valentines to grandpa grandma and cousins. so, i wanted to do our own, naturally.

we doorbell ditched justice league and barbie valentines to all our friends/neighbors. it was giddy fun. something about the anxiety of getting caught, but just being missed...!

and then 8:45 rolls around and we're still delivering... and the fun kind of fizzled out.. but what good is a valentine delivered after v-day?? so we trudged through to finish.

next year: we'll start earlier.

it really was so lovely--and mostly i wanted to show off my attempts at a fancy meal! ;) and also my lovely long locks, that i only miss when i look at these pictures.
